Scouts of America Merit Badge Class

The Los Angeles Railroad Heritage Foundation (LARHF) hosts a Scouts of America Merit Badge Class in multiple times a year. Classes are designed to teach Scouts about railroad history, contemporary operations and careers, and -- most importantly -- safety.  Our goal is that with this class under their belts, Scouts can be proactive leaders in the community in regards to train safety.

Our next in-person class will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Philippe's The Original - located in Downtown Los Angeles

If your Scout is unable to attend a class, we can also send a video link of the recorded class. Your Scout will still be able to receive their blue card for attending a Zoom class and a pre-recorded class. We recommending attending the class to allow for their questions to be answered in real time.

If you submit your application after registration closes, you will be put on a waiting list for the next class. Classes are held multiple times a year.

The Merit Badge Class includes a workbook and Blue Card upon completion of program. We’re grateful to Metro, Union Pacific and BNSF Railway for supporting this popular program.

Your Scout's registration form will still need to be emailed or mailed to LARHF to finalize registration for the class.

LARHF's Scout Railroad Merit Badge Program is also available year-round as a friendly alternative for any learning needs!

If your Scout is in need of a more controlled learning environment, LARHF is happy to provide a pre-recorded video of the class that allows individuals to learn/fill out the workbook at their own pace, in the most supportive learning environment possible.

Simply email info@larhf.org to inquire about our Scouts Pre-Recorded Railroad Merit Badge.
